About Us

Margaret’s Fine Consignments has been a Frankfort Avenue mainstay for over 30 years, open Monday through Saturday 10:00 AM til 6:00 PM

Margaret Thornberry started the business on her own, and it grew and thrived under her leadership. She recently retired and handed the reins over to her step-daughter, Cara Aldridge. Margaret now spends half the year in Florida, although she remains involved with the store. She still pops in from time to time to say hello!

Consignment Information

Receiving Window

Margaret's receiving window is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10AM til 5PM.  Our convenient drive through window is located at the rear of our store.  Our experienced staff will review your items and immediately let you know what we can accept.  Please don't be offended if we do not accept your items.  We take pride in knowing what our customers are purchasing in the store!  New consignors will review/sign our consignment policy and set up their account.

What We Consign

Margaret's is committed to stocking our shop with high end labels with affordable prices.  Any clothing must be current styles and not more then 3 years old.  We can not accept items with spots, holes, tears or missing buttons.  All clothing must be clean, pressed and on hangers.  We do not take certain brands such as Faded Glory,  Jacklyn Smith, Old Navy and any items from stores no longer in business.  We also DO NOT accept items purchased from thrift stores, such as Goodwill, that are purchased specifically for resale through consignment stores.  Accessories such as purses, hats, shoes and jewelry must be in like new condition.  Please place jewelry in individual bags labeled with any information about the item, such as brand, type of stone, or type of metal.   We reserve the right to accept or reject any items for consignment.

How It Works

Margaret's is committed to pricing your items at a level that will most likely result in a sale.  Our experienced staff researches current prices and is well versed on what is selling well in the store.  Consignors may determine the selling price on a specific item.  In such circumstances, however, Margaret's may reject any price that is believed to not result in a sale.  A handling fee of $3 or $5 depending on price range is added to the sales price of all items.  Items priced under $100 will remain on the sales floor for 30 days at full price.  Day 31-60 each item will be reduced by 25%  Items priced over $100 will remain on the floor for 30 days at full price and reduced by 30% day 31-60 and an additional 30% days 61-90.

How We Pay

Commissions are calculated based on the price, less the $3 or $6 handling fee and range from 50% to 60% depending on the price.  Consignors may collect on their account any time the front register is open or call to find out account information during the hours listed below.  When calling to inquire about your account please have your Margaret's account number. You can check your account balance online at any time under the Consignor Login portion using your email address as your username and password. Please be sure to give us your email address to have on your account information!

Pay Out

You can collect on your account daily at the front register.  If you use your account money as store credit to shop you will receive a 10% discount on your purchase!  You're account will remain active for 3 years.  No activity in 3 years will result in your account closing.

If Your Item Doesn't Sell

It is the consignor's responsibility to locate any unsold items on the sales floor.  A list of sold and unsold items can be provided to you at the front register at any time.  If consignor does not collect unsold items by expiration date the items will become property of Margaret's Fine Consignment.  Please note that Margaret's Fine Consignment is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
